HEMATOLOGY, COAGULATION, URINALYSIS, IMMUNOLOGY
- Patient testing and test consultation is performed by highly qualified and experienced Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Technicians.
- Research, development, and management of diagnostic procedures is directed by our Medical Director Jackson L. Gates, M.D. FCAP.
- As a service and commitment to our clinicians and patients, Doctors Laboratory, Inc. maintains and provides rapid turn-around-time for all tests performed. Many tests are performed within 3-4 hours of receipt. Additional time may be necessary for Blood Typing and Rh Antibody Screening, ASO Titers, Cold Agglutinins, and Cryoglobulins. Generally, these are completed within 12 hours, except for Cryoglobulins that require 72-hours incubation.
- DLI performs testing with the highest quality instrumentation available. This instrumentation includes:
- Beckman Coulter Hematology instrumentation is used to perform CBCs, WBC differentials, RBC indices and Reticulocyte counts. Advia advanced technology provides clinicians with Reticulocyte Hemoglobin Content (Chr). This test is extremely useful in early diagnosis of Iron Deficiency in children, Functional Iron Deficiency in Renal Dialysis patients, and Iron Deficiency Anemia in-patients undergoing Chemotherapy.
- For Coagulation testing, DLI employs the Sysmex CA 1500 instrument. Photo optical technology provides efficient and accurate Prothrombin Time (PT), Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT), Fibrinogen, D-Dimer, and Coagulation Factor Assays.
- In Urinalysis testing, DLI utilizes the Roche Urisys 2400 to provide accurate and consistent Urine Chemistry results. A microscopic examination of Urine sediment is performed on all Urine specimens regardless of Urine Chemistry results.
- DLI performs Immunophenotyping of Lymphocytes and CD4/CD8 enumeration using Flow Cytometry. CD4/CD8 enumeration is important when monitoring efficacy of HIV AIDS treatment.
